Depression may result from an imbalance with the levels of serotonin and/or epinephrine; however the definite cause of depression is unknown and the pattern is unclear. Some triggers, related to high emotional impact, could be associated with depression - like a divorce, the arrival of a child, job loss, abuse/neglect, or isolation. Other triggers could be related to physical factors like drug or alcohol abuse.
